The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce announces that Flemington’s Annual Plein Air Art Festival will be part of this year’s Hunterdon Fest on Saturday, September 6. Artists are welcome to create art “en plein air.” The event will take place rain or shine.

“The Chamber is very grateful for all the work that has been put into this event over the course of the last two years. When the Chamber launched Hunterdon Fest in 2013, our vision was to showcase as much of our local artists as we could,” said Chris Phelan, president of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce. “When the organizers of Plein Air approached the Chamber we saw it as a great fit for Hunterdon Fest and will further the breadth of art featured here in Hunterdon County.”

Participating artists may use any medium, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pen and ink, photography, etc. Subjects must be located in Hunterdon County and may include gardens, landscapes, streetscapes, houses, barns, commercial buildings or architectural details, people, animals, etc. that are located on public property. Artists may begin their artwork prior to September 6 but are required to check-in from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Village and be present “on the street” to demonstrate and finish their work on that date. Artists are then invited to a public exhibition and silent auction of their created masterpieces at Hunterdon Fest between 5 and 6 p.m.

Hunterdon Fest will run from noon to 7 p.m. at Liberty Village Premium Outlets and is a celebration of the arts with art vendors and musicians taking over the Village. A variety of musical entertainment will be presented throughout the day, including the headlining band The Doughboys taking the stage at 5 p.m..
