Union Member Says Public Should Know Unions Donate Members’ Money to Politicians Without Their Permission
To the Editor:
It was amazing to read the story on page one of the July 30 issue [“Princeton is First To Push Legislation On Political Corruption”] and see absolutely no mention of the current IRS abuse/corruption affair with public employees pleading the fifth and “lost” emails. I also saw no information on the abuse/corruption involved in unions that take from their members, without their permission, in many cases, and give those same members no say in how their money is spent. I am a union member and have seen this abuse first hand. Finally, I have seen nothing informing the public about State and local employees who are allowed to donate money to the same politicians who negotiate their salaries and benefits. Most of these union members are now seeing the error of their ways with the state of the NJ State pension system and the false promises of multiple politicians over the years, including Mr. Honesty himself, Jon Corzine.
