Princeton School Gardens Cooperative Thanks Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund
To the Editor:
The Princeton School Gardens Cooperative thanks the Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund for its continued and generous support. This donation helps enable the growth and success of the garden education programs at the four elementary schools in the Princeton Public Schools.
The PSGC helped construct edible gardens at every public school in Princeton. Over the years, with its mission to foster garden- and food-based education in the classroom, cafeteria and community, our 501c3 has helped support the dramatic expansion and deepening of those garden education programs. In the elementary schools, the program now reaches all 1350 elementary students and is supported by part-time garden educators at each school.
We appreciate Church & Dwight’s ongoing involvement, and think of these words attributed to Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.” In their outdoor classrooms, our students plant seeds, find bugs and worms, pull weeds, harvest, and taste. They feel the sun on their heads and, as they harvest strawberries in late spring and leafy greens in fall, retain the rhythms of the natural world and are guided to their place in it and to stewardship of the environment.
Again, we thank Church & Dwight employees for helping to make these delicious lessons a reality.
