35-Year Residents Say Mayor, Council Ignore Request for Meeting on Concerns
To the Editor:
The mayor has boasted about the Council’s responsiveness to citizens’ concerns. Maybe some citizens.
Our property, which borders on the Russell Estates buffer area, has been seriously degraded by water runoff, falling trees, and soil erosion. Under the original agreement with the Township, REHA is responsible for maintaining the common areas, which includes buffer areas, in “reasonable order and condition.” They do not.
In addition, soil erosion off of their property has resulted in a serious siltation concerning the series of ponds leading to Stony Brook that are classified by the NJDEP as a Category 1 waterway and are of great concern to the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association.
We have expressed our concerns to the mayor and the Council, invited them to inspect the property and requested a meeting to no avail.
We have lived on this wonderful property for 35 years; it’s heartbreaking to know that our government doesn’t care what happens to it.
