Noting That Friends of Princeton Open Space Has Not Yet Taken Any Position on Bike Lane
To the Editor:
In your January 14 edition, I was quoted in an article about Council’s consideration of a proposed bike lane on Hamilton Avenue [“Council Introduces Bike Lane Ordinance”]. The article described me as “Wendy Mager of Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS).” I write to clarify for your readers that the remarks I made were purely personal. Friends of Princeton Open Space has not taken any position on the bike lane.
I did speak that evening on behalf of FOPOS regarding another matter, on which I would like to elaborate. It concerned a resolution accepting the dedication of a conservation easement on 11-plus acres of land owned by Goldman Sachs adjacent to Herrontown Road, which had been agreed to back in 2000 as part of a land-use application. After town Engineer Robert Kiser mentioned this easement to me I could not find it on the tax maps, so I reviewed the original file and discovered that this was that rare instance where there was “a slip between the cup and the lip,” and the easement had not been finalized. I contacted my former law partner Chris Tarr, who had represented Goldman’s predecessor Commodities Corp., and he immediately agreed to see the matter through. Thanks to Goldman Sachs and Chris, working with Ed Schmierer, the easement was finalized and we now have an additional parcel on the Ridge with public access. They are to be commended.
