Randy Cohen will interview philosopher, author and Princeton University bioethics professor Peter Singer for his public radio program, “Person, Place, Thing,” Wednesday, September 30, at 7 p.m., at Princeton Public Library. During the program, guests are asked to speak about a person, a place and a thing they find meaningful rather than about themselves.

Mr. Singer has been called the world’s most influential living philosopher and, in 2014, was third on the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute’s ranking of Global Thought Leaders. He is known for his work on the ethics of our treatment of animals, for his controversial critique of the sanctity of life ethics in bioethics, and for his writing on the obligations of the affluent to aid those living in extreme poverty. Mr. Singer has written, co-authored, edited or co-edited more than 40 books, most recently, “The Most Good You Can Do.” His works have appeared in more than 30 languages. 

Mr. Cohen won multiple Emmy awards as a writer for “Late Night With David Letterman” and for 12 years wrote “The Ethicist” column for The New York Times Magazine.
