Preserving Princeton’s Past With Portrait Quilt
The Neighborhood Portrait Quilt has joined the Arts Council of Princeton’s permanent exhibitions in the Sands Gallery at the Paul Robeson Center. Utilizing materials drawn from the collection of the Historical Society of Princeton, the quilt incorporates documents and photographs that illustrate the history of the Witherspoon-Jackson community.
The photographic snapshots are accompanied by captions to help narrate the story of Princeton’s African-American community. The quilt was crafted by local quilter and educator Gail Mitchell.
