Monarchs Welcome

Princeton is helping to preserve Monarch butterflies. The town is registered as a Monarch Waystation as part of a project sponsored by Monarch Watch, a non-profit founded by the University of Kansas Department of Entomology. Friends of Princeton Open Space has pledged to maintain areas in Tusculum Meadow and Mountain Lakes Preserve with milkweed and nectar sources to meet the Monarchs’ needs. Trailside signs alert hikers to be on the lookout for these creatures.  Information on how to report sightings and contribute to the program’s expansion can be found at Monarchwatch.org.
