Local Eateries Participate In Annual March for Meals

Meals on Wheels of Mercer County is participating in the 16th annual March for Meals, a month-long celebration of Meals on Wheels and those who rely on the program in order to remain independent at home.

By dining at local restaurants including Eno Terra, Two Sevens, Chambers Walk, Teresa Caffe, Mediterra, the Yankee Doodle Tap Room, Trenton Social, and Amalfi’s, among others, patrons can help support the program since 10 percent of bills or more are donated to Meals on Wheels. The schedule runs March 4-31, with different restaurants participating in different weeks.

The annual March for Meals commemorates the day in March, 1972, when President Nixon signed into law a measure that amended the Older Americans Act of 1965 and established a national nutrition program for seniors 60 and older. Since 2002, Meals on Wheels programs from across the country have joined forces for the annual awareness campaign to celebrate the public-private partnership and obtain the support needed to fill the gap between the seniors served and those still in need.
