Suggesting That Registered Voters Consider Using Vote by Mail Ballots
To the Editor:
This is to recommend that registered voters (NJ registration ended October 16) consider using Vote by Mail Ballots in advance of this November 6 (and other) elections.
Advantages include: Your vote will have been cast even If you are away, are sick, disabled, or if bad weather is a problem on Election Day. Also, New Jersey’s lack of verified paper ballots in voting machines may give Mail-In Ballots a greater measure of security.
How to get an application for a Mail-In Ballot:
a) The application must be received by October 30 at the NJ County Clerks’ offices. It is printed online by going to: “Vote by Mail – State of New Jersey,” then going below to: Applications by County. For Princeton residents, there is a listing for Mercer County in English and Spanish.
b) The application can also be obtained at the Princeton Clerk’s Office, on the first floor of the Witherspoon municipal building.
c) Another application source is the Mercer County Clerk’s office, 209 S. Broad Street, Trenton. (609) 989-6494. Again, the filled in application must be received by October 30 in order to have a Mail-In Ballot sent to you in sufficient time to vote in this election.
Voting rates in Princeton and elsewhere have decreased in recent years. With sometimes slim winning margins, every vote is important. This is especially so for younger people who have much to gain or lose long term by the results of this and future elections.
