Artists Gail Bracegirdle, Bill Jersey, Debbie Pisacreta, and Maxine Shore will exhibit paintings expressing their personal visions in a group show, “Awakenings,” on view March 7 through March 31 at Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville. An opening reception is on Sunday, March 10 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Gail Bracegirdle is a representational artist whose watercolors are filled with light and color. She prefers to work from life or from sketches made on location in order to observe and capture the effects of direct and reflected light and shadow on her subject. A signature member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society, her paintings are actively exhibited in juried, group, and solos shows, have won awards, and are held in private collections in the United States, Europe, and Australia.
Bill Jersey produced award-winning films for networks and PBS for 60 years, yet art was always his passion. Upon moving to Lambertville in 2008, art became his primary focus. He uses what he calls “a fresh eye” to go beyond mere observation to express with color and form the unique qualities of his subjects. Jersey’s work has received multiple awards from shows at Phillips’ Mill, Stover Mill, and other venues,
Debbie Pisacreta specializes in plein-air landscapes. She is usually drawn to a scene not only by the qualities of light and color it has, but also by the calm or quiet feeling it inspires within her. Her goal is to create a visual story that communicates her emotional connection to a specific time and place. Debbie’s work has been exhibited in local juried art shows and plein-air events, where she has won several awards. She is also a painting instructor at the Arts Council of Princeton.
Maxine Shore is an award-winning oil painter who has exhibited her work throughout the United States and is included in many private, public, and corporate collections. Using color and light in an effort to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, she is more interested in interpreting how a place makes her feel than simply reproducing how it looks. Inspiration for her paintings often comes from travel to places near and far that spark her imagination.
Artists’ Gallery is located at 18 Bridge Street in Lambertville. It is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment. For more information, visit www.lambertvillearts.com.
