Environment New Jersey Cites Princeton For Leadership in Reducing Air Pollution
To the Editor:
Air pollution threatens the sustainability of the environment and harms human health by causing multiple respiratory diseases. Transportation is the leading cause of air pollution, and as such, I was proud to see that Princeton passed a municipal resolution supporting increased electric vehicle usage. Electric vehicles are cleaner than petroleum fueled vehicles, resulting in fewer environmental impacts and health problems. The actions of the Princeton Council members result in better air quality in Princeton as well as throughout New Jersey. Environment New Jersey commends the Princeton Council members for their commitment to reducing air pollution and protecting human health.
Through the work of Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey has taken several steps towards creating a more sustainable environment, and it’s exciting to see Princeton take a leadership position in reducing air pollution. While state action is impressive, municipal resolutions like the one passed in Princeton greatly benefit local communities and show a dedication to protecting the health of residents and the quality of the town. I hope that other cities throughout New Jersey will follow Princeton’s lead and implement similar resolutions supporting the use of electric vehicles.
