Larry Fuller Trio Plays at Morristown Theater
JAZZ PIANIST: Princeton resident Larry Fuller brings his trio to the Morris Museum in Morristown next month. For tickets, visit morrismuseum.org.
The Larry Fuller Trio performs at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 16 at The Bickford Theatre, Morris Museum, 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown. Fuller will present a variety of material, including from his recording Overjoyed, out on Capri Records.
Fuller, who lives in Princeton, learned his craft the old school way: on the bandstand, working with bassist Ray Brown, vocalist Ernestine Anderson, drummer Jeff Hamilton, and guitarist/vocalist John Pizzarelli. Through his work with these jazz legends, he developed a personal style that is both “relentlessly swinging and outwardly expressive,” according to a press release.
Fuller’s upcoming program will include pieces ranging from artists Stevie Wonder to Oscar Peterson, Wes Montgomery to Ray Brown, George Gershwin to Joni Mitchell. He will be joined by Hassan Shakur on bass and Jason Tiemann on drums.
Fuller has appeared at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops, Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Grand Ole Opry, Bern International Jazz Festival, Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Shanghai Center Theater, and other venues. For tickets, visit morrismuseum.org or call (973) 971-3706.
