Garden Theatre to Host Filmmaker Whit Stillman

The Garden Theatre will be welcoming back to Princeton filmmaker/writer/producer/director Whit Stillman on April 21 at 7 p.m.

Following a screening of his 2011 comedy, Damsels in Distress, which is free for members of the nonprofit cinema, there will be a conversation with Stillman. This will be his third trip to the Garden, having first visited in 2016 to promote his Jane Austen adaptation, Love & Friendship, and in 2022 for a discussion around his 1990 debut feature, Metropolitan.

Damsels in Distress is a farce focused on a charismatic trio of female coeds who welcome a transfer student into their group, which seeks to help severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men who threaten the girls’ friendship and sanity. Greta Gerwig takes the lead role.

Tickets are available at the box office or online. Visit princetongardentheatre.org.
