Local Food Drive to Help Families in Need

Every day, there is news of job layoffs, corporations downsizing, businesses closing, and people earning less pay. Bentley Community Services, Inc., a designated 501(c)3 charitable organization, is collecting healthy non-perishable food items from September 15-30, to provide relief for these struggling, working families in need. “We are so grateful that various local entities are participating with us as host drop off locations for our healthy food drive,” says Dorothy Stearns, executive director of Bentley Community Services. “The shelves of our healthy food pantry need replenishment every week after participant families receive their provisions donated by our generous providers.”

Examples of healthy non perishable food items to be collected are dry pastas, rice, crackers, peanut butter, healthy cereals, oatmeal, jams, marinades, dressings, sauces, nuts, dried fruits, snack bars, gluten-free products, canned/packaged beans, soups, spices, tuna fish, coffee, tea, olive and vegetable oil, sugar, flour, juices, bottled water, and toiletries.

The drop-off sites are: Weis Market and the YMCA in Hillsborough, Frank’s Pizza & Restaurant in Manville, Griggstown Reformed Church in Griggstown, Mary Jacobs Memorial Library, Rocky Hill Reformed Church, McCaffrey’s in Princeton, and P.T.S. Fitness & Health in Skillman. Visit www.bentleycommunityservices.org for a complete list of addresses.
