Spirit of Princeton’s Veterans’ Day Ceremony
The Spirit of Princeton Committee welcomes the community to honor the nation’s veterans, as well as those young men and women still actively serving in the military, by attending the Veterans’ Day ceremony, Tuesday, November 11, at 11 a.m., at the All Wars Monument, intersection of Mercer and Nassau Streets, Princeton.
The 11/11/@11 program will feature an inspiring blend of participants, including the Princeton community youth, municipal leaders, and the area’s active and retired military personnel. The Marine Unit, presiding over the program and providing a color guard and rifle salute, is Battery G, Third Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment from the Marine Reserve Training Detachment of West Trenton, N.J.
Participants in the program will include Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert and Spirit of Princeton Co-founder Ray Wadsworth. The featured speaker will be Princeton Police Lt. Robert Currier, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served in the 438th Security Police Squadron, which responded to the Grenada crisis in 1983. Lt. Currier is a longtime member of the Princeton Police Department for the past 28 years, and currently oversees department support services.
The wreath will be placed at the memorial by Spirit of Princeton co-founder and former Princeton Borough Councilman Ray Wadsworth. The Blawenburg Band and a bugler will provide the music for the ceremony.
Spirit of Princeton Committee, a group of volunteers devoted to inspiring participation in community civic events, also produces the Memorial Day Parade, Flag Day Ceremony, and the July Fourth celebration and fireworks.
