Blizzard Predictions for Mercer County
With a significant snowstorm predicted for this weekend, residents are urged to take precautions for the snow, freezing rain and high winds that are possible. PSE&G has announced it has extra personnel and equipment at the ready, but there are certain measures homeowners can take to be ready in case of power outages and other problems.
— To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, do not run any gasoline-powered engine, including generators and snowblowers, in a garage or any other enclosed space.
— Downed wires should not be touched. Do not approach or drive over a downed line or touch anything that might be in contact with it. Report downed wires or outages to PSE&G’s Customer Service Line at (800) 436-PSEG.
— Keep a flash light and first aid kit on hand. Also: a manual can opener for food, extra blankets, a gallon of water per person for three days, and a three-day supply of non-perishable food.
There is no parking on city streets during the storm. The town will make calls today to remind residents to move their cars so plows can get to the snow.
Sports events at Princeton High School have been cancelled for the weekend. So have all Dillon Youth Basketball games, PAWS Tiger Club wrestling, and all Princeton Recreation Department events.
