New Luxury Oceanfront Asbury Ocean Club Will Feature Residences and Boutique Hotel

BEACHFRONT LUXURY: “Asbury Park Ocean Club is the first product of its kind in this market — not only in Asbury Park, but all of the Jersey coast,” says Jodi Stasse, Corcoran Sunshine senior managing director, who is leading sales for the new Asbury Ocean Club. Shown is one of the spacious light-filled living rooms at this new club, which features unobstructed ocean views.

An exciting new beachfront opportunity for luxurious living will open in Asbury Park in June. Asbury Ocean Club is a collection of residential homes, a beach club, a boutique hotel, and a wide-ranging selection of amenities, all located at 1101 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park.

The property, developed by iStar and designed by Handel Architects and Anda Andrei Design, rises 17 stories above the ocean, offering an uninterrupted sweep of ocean views.

“Watching Asbury Ocean Club come to life has been incredibly rewarding,” says Brian Cheripka, senior vice president at iStar. “From the initial planning process and now into the construction phase, we are excited for residents to experience what we created here. We know they will appreciate and enjoy all of the extra care that went into selecting every detail of this one-of-a-kind project, from its location at the heart of the waterfront down to the finishes in the residences.”

iStar tapped a world-class team of global talent to bring the building to life, he adds. Included is famed interior designer Anda Andrei, president of Anda Andrei Design, who created the interiors of the residences, working with Bonetti Kozerski and Handel Architects. Each home features unobstructed oceanfront views with a wraparound terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring an abundance of light and air.

Light and Airy

“We took on a beach house vernacular that’s open, light, and airy, and we kept materials simple — concrete and glass with wood accents,” explains Gary Handel, principal, Handel Architects. “Balconies extend out to accentuate the horizontal quality of the views. And then we added curvature to the building to reflect the shoreline.”

This new luxury oceanfront complex features 130 condominiums perched atop a 54-room boutique hotel. In addition, Asbury Ocean Club offers an extensive amenity package and concierge services. Among them are a fitness center, demo-kitchen, cinema, library and billiards room, business center, and a spa on the third floor.

Indoor/outdoor spaces on the fourth floor include an expansive terrace with a 65-by-30-foot pool overlooking the ocean, a full-service pool bar and grill, a garden pavilion with reflecting pool, and an outdoor lounge with fireplace. The ground floor of Asbury Ocean Club will house an upscale, curated retail center open to the public.

The ocean-view fitness center has been programmed by New York-based fitness consultant The Wright Fit, and features a yoga room with sun-warmed meditation terrace. The spa offers residents on-call massages, and relaxation rooms. There are also children’s facilities as well as an entertainment lounge, a 16-seat screening room, a library and game room, and an event room with a chef’s kitchen, perfect for hosting private celebrations.

Top-of-the-Line

The interiors of the condominiums are top-of-the line in every way.

Included are a Miele kitchen appliance package; white lacquered custom cabinetry by Spazzi of Spain; wide-plank, bleached white oak hardwood flooring; quartz stone countertops; walk-in rain showers in master bathroom; a blue agate accent wall in secondary baths; ceiling heights up to 10 feet in living spaces; 180-270 degree views from each living space; and much more.

A concierge will be on call 24/7. Pets and their owners will enjoy the dog wash (for sandy paws!); and private storage rooms for paddle boards and surfboards add to the convenient living emphasized at Asbury Ocean Club.

iStar, the developer of the Club, has been a major investor in Asbury Park. Led by chief executive officer Jay Sugarman, iStar assembled 35 acres in the Asbury Park waterfront, and has invested more than $300 million to reinvigorate this beachfront location.

iStar is also the force behind a 10-year, multi-billion-dollar redevelopment plan for a 1.25 mile stretch along the Asbury Park oceanfront that includes The Asbury Hotel and Asbury Lanes, a new, state-of-the-art bowling alley and music venue. According to many reports, Asbury Park has been thriving under iStar’s leadership, and with the influx of new visitors and longtime devotees of the neighborhood, the time was right to introduce a luxury residential building of this caliber, believe the developers.

Asbury Ocean Club was designed to provide the first opportunity for residents to enjoy Asbury Park and the Jersey coast year-round, they add. One goal was to create a one-of-a-kind destination for a new generation that wants to do more than just visit.

Lively Scene

“Our first buyers are dedicated, loyal fans of Asbury Park and are enthusiastic about exploring it year-round,” points out Jodi Stasse, Corcoran Sunshine’s senior managing director, who is leading sales for Asbury Ocean Club. “Many of the buyers will make this their primary residence, and some will use it as a vacation shore home. There is a lively scene here year-round, and the amenities and services that are offered to our residents will ensure that it is perfect for year-round living and holiday celebrations.”

Prospective residents are drawn from all over, including Princeton, she adds. There is also interest from people in other areas of New Jersey and Bucks County, Pa., as well as Manhattan and Brooklyn.

“The level of luxury and quality we are offering is the same as that you find in luxury residential buildings in Manhattan and Miami,” continues Stasse. “The town of Asbury Park has become a vibrant destination in its own right under iStar’s direction, and will only continue to grow.”

Adds Cheripka: “It is satisfying to see our work and investment in Asbury Park over the past decade come to fruition with Asbury Ocean Club, and we look forward to continuing our work in the community.”
