Princeton Youth Ballet Presents Virtual Performance
VIRTUAL VIRTUOSITY: A digital presentation of “The Secret Garden” by Princeton Youth Ballet is planned for Sunday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The company premiered the ballet in 2008.
Princeton Youth Ballet’s production of The Secret Garden, based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett and choreographed by Artistic Director Risa Kaplowitz, will be broadcast during a special watch party on Sunday, May 31 at 7 p.m. Details will be posted on Princeton Youth Ballet’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PrincetonYouthBallet/.
The Secret Garden has become a staple of PYB’s repertory, with many founding cast members now dancing professionally in companies throughout the United States and Europe. Performances scheduled for this month were canceled due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Included in the broadcast will be a video introduction featuring messages from Kaplowitz and Assistant Artistic Director Leland Schwantes, memories from former company members, and a glimpse at this year’s rehearsal process captured by PYB staff and Princeton Youth Ballet senior company member Charmaine Murray before the shutdown.
Princeton Youth Ballet usually performs in twice-yearly productions, presented at Princeton High School Performing Arts Center. While in-person performances remain on hold at this time, PYB dancers and staff remain committed to a future return to the stage.
