Princeton University Concerts (PUC) is planning to transition the series’ concert offerings to a live, in-person format. Although the kinds of gatherings possible on-campus in the coming year is not yet known, PUC is actively working with Princeton University officials to lay the groundwork for a spring 2022 season. At the core of this season, as it has been for 129 years, is a “Concert Classics” series, featuring many artists whose concerts were canceled during the past two seasons due to the pandemic:

Participants include the Takács String Quartet and Julien Labro, Bandoneón; tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Mitsuko Uchida, Uchida with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra; the Ebene String Quartet, the Dover String Quartet, the Tetzlaff String Quartet; and cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason with pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason.

“After one of the only sustained live-programming breaks in PUC’s 129-year history, it is with a tremendous sense of optimism and excitement that we unveil the initial plans for our long-awaited reunion with our audiences,” said PUC Director Marna Seltzer. “I am thrilled that we can fulfill our commitment to artists whose concerts were cancelled during the past two seasons — their appearance on our stage will now feel all the more special. More than half of these artists will be making their PUC debuts, including both young, rising stars and established legends. And while it feels important to ground our return with the familiarity of our core ‘Concert Classics’ series, this is just the beginning of a new chapter in PUC’s history — a chapter shaped by all of the lessons that we have learned throughout the pandemic, and a chapter focused on the integral role of the arts within our society.”

PUC looks forward to adding more programming throughout the season as guidance allows, and will release information about accessing tickets over the course of the summer. All planned events will be realized in accordance with concurrent scientific, state, and University guidance, with the safety and health of the community in mind.
