Artworks Trenton has announced that it will host the “New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship Exhibition,” showcasing 2019-2021 recipients of fellowship awards in the visual arts, on view March 22 through May 21. An opening reception is on March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“We are thrilled to host this exhibition,” said Addison Vincent, gallery manager of Artworks Trenton. “The artistic talent in the state of New Jersey is immense, and this exhibition showcases the exciting works of art being produced in New Jersey. This exhibition falls right in line with the Artworks Trenton mission of promoting artistic diversity by fostering creativity, learning, and appreciation of the arts. It will showcase 38 artists from across the state, working in a variety of disciplines.”

The Arts Council created the Artists’ Fellowship Program in 1971, and to this day it continues to acknowledge and assist artists working at the highest levels of excellence as determined by their peers. The Council understands both the critical difference that providing this kind of support can make, as well as the importance of helping artists gain further public exposure for their work and advance their careers. Because of the program’s high standards, a Council Fellowship brings much deserved recognition and distinction that can help in even greater ways than the funds themselves.

“The Fellowship exhibition is always a highlight for the Council,” said Danielle Bursk, director of community partnerships and artist services for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. “The Artist Fellowship Program is one way that we recognize and elevate exceptional artists in the state. And through this year’s exhibition with Artworks, audiences can benefit from the powerful and beautiful work of New Jersey artists.”

Artworks Trenton, a nonprofit visual arts center, is located at 19 Everett Alley in Trenton. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit artworkstrenton.org.
