Princeton Boychoir Concert Features New Choral Work

WORLD PREMIERE: A work by composer Rollo Dilworth is on the program when the Princeton Boychoir performs on Saturday, May 14 at Trinity Church.

Princeton Boychoir’s fifth anniversary season will culminate with a gala concert, “Brothers, Sing On!” on Saturday, May 14, 7 p.m. at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street. Audiences will hear selections from all three choirs that make up the training and performance choir for boys.

The highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of a newly commissioned choral work by conductor and composer Rollo Dilworth. A new arrangement of the spiritual “Ev’rything’s Gonna Be Alright,” the piece captures the feelings of hope the choir feels moving forward out of the pandemic and into the future.

The Boychoir is a program of Westrick Music Academy, home to Princeton Boychoir, Princeton Girlchoir, and other music education programming for musicians from kindergarten through adulthood. The choirs are currently scheduling auditions for the 2022-2023 season of the Boychoir and Girlchoir. To learn more or schedule an audition, visit WestrickMusic.org/Auditions.

This anniversary season has been marked with milestones, from appearing with Michael Bublé in his 2021 NBC special, Christmas in the City, to a return to in-person concerts for the first time in 18 months. This summer the choir will make their international debut, performing concerts in Prague and Vienna under the baton of Dilworth and Princeton Boychoir Music Director Fred Meads.
