Tickets are on sale for Philadelphia Ballet’s production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker at the historic Academy of Music December 8-30. Demand was so high that the company had to add some extra performances.
“There is so much that goes into each performance and our entire company from the principal dancers to our youngest students, work extremely hard to bring the magic of The Nutcracker to life for our audiences,” said Artistic Director Angel Corella. “With hundreds of roles, exquisite set designs and mesmerizing music, there’s something new to discover in every performance.”
Several related events are planned. “Daddy & Me,” is on Sunday, December 10 at 12 p.m. A sensory-performance is Tuesday, December 26 at 12 p.m., designed for those who are neurodiverse, have sensory sensitivities, and need additional accessibility accommodations. A “Nutcracker Tea” is held at the DoubleTree Hotel December 16 and 17 from 2 to 4 p.m., with opportunities to meet characters from the ballet and Santa Claus.
