To the Editor:

I am writing to second the Feldman letter (“Hoping Princeton Will Join Other Towns In Considering Regulating Leaf Blowers,” Mailbox March 27) and to endorse her strong, measured words. Mayor Lempert and Consolidated Council, please seriously consider these words. Ms. Feldman speaks for many in our community who enjoy the Princeton weekend’s peace and quiet as a respite from the harried world.

The roar of gas leaf blowers disrupts the sense of Princeton as a peaceful quiet get-away from the stress of city life. It is not only unhealthy for those operating the leaf blowers, but consider the Monday — Friday 6 a.m.-9 p.m. New York City executive who comes back to his/her green peaceful Princeton home … only to find a roaring leaf blower waking them or disrupting their peaceful morning coffee or neighborhood walk.

What a drag these noisy leaf blowers are! Raking is a much healthier option, but for those in the business — at least regulate them so they must use electric leaf-blowers. Clean air lawn care is the way to go.
