A Homebuyer Workshop Princeton will be offered on Saturday, May 1 at the Princeton Township Municipal Complex. The event, which is sponsored by Township Affordable Housing, in association with The Bank of Princeton, Investors Savings Bank, Jersey Mortgage Company, and Princeton Mortgage will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration and light refreshments followed by a workshop from 9 a.m. until noon. Mercer County Connection will host “Welcome to Medicare,” an introductory presentation for Medicare recipients on Thursday, April 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mercer County Connection in Hamilton. The free program, which will be hosted by the Division of Aging and Community Services of the N.J. Department of Health and Senior Service will cover questions about eligibility, how to enroll, and prescription benefits. “Ask the Gardener,” a free presentation offering tips on gardening and lawn care this spring, will be hosted by Barbara J. Bromley, Mercer County’s horticulturist for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County on Monday, April 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mercer County Connection in Hamilton. Ms. Bromley will discuss how to keep garden pests at bay, how to maintain a lush green lawn, and common plant issues. Attendees may bring samples of insects or weeds from their properties for diagnosis. Those interested in attending are asked to call (609) 890-9800 to reserve a space.

Blue Point Grill, elements, Eno Terra, Gennaro’s, Mediterra, Teresa Caffe, Witherspoon Grill, and Yankee Doodle Tap Room are among the area restaurants that will participate in “Princeton Dines Out for Parkinson’s Disease” on Thursday, April 29, donating a percentage of their proceeds to The Parkinson Alliance. Donations by the restaurants will be matched by The Tuchman Foundation and 100 percent of all donations go directly to research.

The Kingston-based Parkinson Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to help finance the most promising research to find the cause and cure for Parkinson’s disease. For more information call (609) 688-0870 or visit www.parkinsonalliance.org.

The Mercer County Commission on Abused, Neglected and Missing Children and the Cherish the Children Foundation will honor seven individuals and two organizations at the 24th Annual “Cherish the Children” Awards Banquet on Wednesday, April 28 at the Mercer Oaks Golf Club. This year’s winners include Marie Borkowski of PEI Kids and Minnie Craig of Corner House; Nicole Addesso of El Centro de Recursos para Familias of Catholic Charities and Gail Cooper of Angel’s Wings; Sergeant Ernie Silagyi and Detective Annette Henderson, both of the Princeton Township Police Department, and Sister Maureen Malone of Catholic Charities; Mercer County Chapter of Court Appointed Special Advocates; and the Intensive Services Program of the Children’s Home Society.
