| Voter Registration Drive Scheduled In an Effort to Increase TurnoutMatthew HershSteve Gordon, Youth Services coordinator for Princeton Human Services, said that with this being a "big" election year, voter awareness is paramount, especially among young people facing the first presidential election where they are eligible to vote. The Youth Center Committee, Princeton Human Services, and the League of Women Voters are sponsoring a voter registration drive this Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. on Nassau Street at Palmer Square in an attempt to "get out the vote" for an election, that according to the latest poll numbers, could once again be a dead heat. "Registering voters means getting more people to the polls," Mr. Gordon said, adding that he hopes to get "at least" 20 to 30 people registered, with the hope of including younger people and Latinos in the drive. Mr. Gordon said he will solicit young people at the Princeton Record Exchange, and Small World Coffee in his effort to bring potential voters to Palmer Square this Saturday. He added that those interested in registering should bring valid forms of identification. Mr. Gordon also stressed that "it's the kids that are running it." "It's non-partisan. Whatever your views are, just come out and register," he said. For more information, call Cynthia Mendez, director of Princeton Human Services at (609) 688-2055. | |||||||||||||||
