Marion Bergstrom, 91, of Robbinsville, died on January 23 in Hamilton.
Born in Norway, she came to the U.S. in 1930, residing in Griggstown and Lawrenceville before moving to Robbinsville two years ago.
She worked at A & P in Princeton for 30 years.
Predeceased by her husband Herbert in 1977, she is survived by two sons: Eric Bergstrom of Mercerville and Thor Bergstrom of Lawrenceville; two daughters: Carol Alesi of Columbus and Helen Opat of Delaware; a brother and sister in Norway, many nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Denville, N.J. 07834. Arrangements were made by Crabiel Memorial Funeral Home, in Hightstown.
The Honorable Joseph R. Glancey, 78, of Philadelphia, died in Stonebridge at Montgomery on January 27. He was former President Judge of the Philadelphia Municipal Court.
Born in Philadelphia, where he graduated from Roman Catholic High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On his return from service, he graduated from Villanova University. After returning to duty with the Navy during the Korean War, he returned to Villanova, where he was in the first graduating class of Villanova Law School.
He practiced law in Philadelphia until 1968 when he was appointed by Mayor James Tate to lead the newly created Municipal Court as its first President Judge. He served in that position from 1968 to 1988. He is widely acknowledged as the creator of the modern municipal court system in Philadelphia, a model for municipal courts throughout the country.
A longtime member and officer of Brehon Law Society, he also belonged to many other legal and civic organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Mary King Glancey; three children: Nora G. Radest of Summit, N.J., Tricia G. Ferguson of Devon, Pa., and Joseph R. Glancey, Jr., of Princeton; four grandchildren: Joseph S. Taylor, Jr., Emma G. Radest, Madeleine R. and Charlotte K. Glancey; and five brothers and two sisters.
A funeral mass was held today, Wednesday, February 1, at Our Mother of Consolation Church, Chestnut Hill, in Philadelphia. Funeral arrangements were by the James J. McGhee Funeral Home in Southampton, Pa. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Joseph R. Glancey Scholarship Fund at Roman Catholic High School, 301 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19107.
Hester W. Riddell, 79, of Seminole, Florida, died January 22, at Freedom Square.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a longtime resident of Princeton before moving to Florida five years ago. She was for many years a member of the Kingston Presbyterian Church, where she served as elder, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. A homemaker, she was also employed for many years by Princeton University, where she served in the Office of Athletics and Physical Education and the Office of Annual Giving.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harry Riddell; her sons, Paul H. of Tampa, Fla., The Rev. David W. of Osny, France, and John E. of Quarryville, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on January 28 at the Kingston Presbyterian Church. A private burial was held in Pennsylvania, with funeral arrangements by Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel.
