The Princeton Township Democratic Committee will host its second annual “Ready, Get Set, Run” workshop on becoming involved in local politics tomorrow, February 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., on the second floor of McCaffrey’s Supermarket at the Princeton Shopping Center. The Republican Association of Princeton will host its second annual Lincoln Day Dinner next Tuesday, February 26, at the Nassau Club in downtown Princeton. The scheduled guest speaker will be state Sen. Tom Kean Jr. Mr. Kean is also the State Senate’s Republican minority leader. The reception will begin at 6:45 p.m. and dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per person and $175 per couple. “Now What?”, a Latino Reform Youth Council-sponsored career and academic workshop, will be held in the Princeton High School cafeteria on February 23, with a Spanish session for parents from 11 a.m. to noon, and a session in English for students from noon to 2:30 p.m. Young adults who are either in college or who have already begun a career will conduct the sessions. Local college and industry leaders along with law enforcement officials will be present. This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served. The Princeton Borough Republican Committee launched the 2008 election cycle with its annual organizational meeting in January, followed by its participation in the Mercer County Republican Committee meeting at which county committee members made Sen. John McCain their preferred presidential nominee. PBRC is looking for Borough residents interested in joining the committee in election and promotional activity, as well as for residents interested in filling vacant electoral district chairperson spots. A $4 million donation was given to enhance the study and performance of jazz at Princeton University, school officials announced last week. The gift, donated by Princeton University alumnus Anthony H.P. Lee, will go to expand the University’s ability to support performances, research, and teaching. The new jazz program is “an important and integral part of Princeton’s vision for the arts across the curriculum,” said University President Shirley Tilghman last week. The gift will support the Anthony H.P. Lee ’79 Fund for the Study of Jazz, which will provide resources for undergraduate and graduate research, coursework, and visiting faculty in the Department of Music and the Center for African American Studies.
