At its Monday evening meeting, the Township Committee approved the permanent creation of the Citizens’ Finance Committee (CFC) and the reconstitution of the Ad Hoc Deer Management Program Evaluation Committee.
Created on a temporary basis in 2007, the CFC will provide assistance to the Township government on work related to the annual budget process and other fiscal issues. Members of the CFC appointed to one-year terms are Diantha Johnson Allenby, Zvi Eiref, Jason Peterson, Scott Sillars, and John Wynne.
The reconstituted Ad Hoc Committee, composed of Mark E. Branon, Dona Schneider, and Steven Frakt, has been charged with looking at the current size of the Township’s deer population, and evaluating the lethal and non-lethal components of the Township’s deer management efforts to date.
Reporting on Recreation Department news at Monday evening’s meeting, Committee member Sue Nemeth that the Recreation Department had received a $250,000 gift from the J. Seward Johnson Charitable Trust. The fund, to be administered by the Princeton Area Community Foundation, provides an endowment that will support scholarships enabling needy children to attend the Recreation Department’s summer camps.
Administrator Jim Pascale commended Ms. Nemeth and Liz Lempert, both new members of the Committee, for “taking time out to become immersed in Township Hall” by “meeting with each and every department head.”
