In response to the completion of Princeton University’s sweeping campus vision plan outlining future development of the 360-acre campus, the community group Princeton Future will discuss the PU plan, as well as its compatibility with the Princeton Community Master Plan this Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Princeton Public Library. The Witherspoon Bread Company will provide refreshments. Items up for discussion will be the University’s proposal to create an arts and transit neighborhood near the Alexander Street-University Place intersection, and a plan to build a parking garage along Western Way. Princeton Future will also address the perceived impact on housing, downtown, diversity, sustainability, and town-gown relations. The PU campus plan can be viewed at www.princeton.edu/campusplan. Following the keynote speech there will be four breakout sessions on the topics of expansion opportunities for businesses, higher education as an economic driver, how population shifts change the economy, and how sports and entertainment drive the local economy. The major sponsor for the Economic Summit is PNC Bank and reception sponsors are NAI Fennelly, Verizon, and PSE&G. Fox Rothschild LLP, Genesis Biotechnology Campus, NAI Fennelly, PSE&G, Verizon and Wilmington Trust. The Princeton Regional Health Department is reminding the community that vaccinating pets at three months of age, and maintaining their rabies vaccination status throughout their life, can help save animals. Health Department Officer David Henry pointed to a recent Salem County case where a pup came into contact with a skunk displaying abnormal behavior. This pup had to be euthanized because he was confirmed positive for rabies and never received his vaccination. If you suspect that people or domestic animals may have been exposed to a rabid animal, it is pertinent that you call your local health department immediately. If you have any questions, or need more information, contact the Princeton Animal Control Department at (609) 924-2728. For more information on rabies and animal control laws, visit www.state.nj.us/health.
