It’s New to Us by Jean Stratton

NEW LOOK: “This is a great new location for us. The showroom offers a wonderful space to display all the products, and it’s easier for customers to find us.” Sales and advertising associate Kevin Johnson (left) and sales associate Dominic Visco of H & H Appliance Center are very happy with the company’s new home.

The New Location at H & H Appliance Center Lets It Offer More Service, Style, and Selection

Not so long ago in the annals of time, refrigerators were called ice boxes, electric dishwashers were unheard of, and clothes dryers were not even a dot on the horizon.

How things have changed! Today, the style, range, and scope of appliances is amazing — microwaves that crisp and broil, convection ovens that bake steaming muffins in a flash, warming drawers that maintain moisture and temperature for hours, and gas grills that are the ultimate of outdoor cooking and entertaining.

The best and the brightest; the coolest and the hottest; the most energy-efficient — all create the kitchen of your dream, and are available at H & H Appliance Center, which recently moved to 909 Route 130 North in East Windsor.

The long-time company, founded in 1947 by Gert and Harry Horowitz, continues to be a family business, and is now owned by their son Kenny Horowitz.

Quality Products

Service and high quality products at a wide price range have always been a company priority. “’Our friendly staff will find the right appliance at the right price’ is our motto.” says Mr. Horowitz. “We carry quality products, we always have a promotion going on, and there are sales. We have competitive prices or better.”

He is especially proud of the knowledgeable staff, many of whom have been with H & H for many years.

“Whether you are replacing a 50-year-old cook-top, a worn-out washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc., we will help you find the best appliance for your needs, and we’ll explain why,” says Mr. Horowitz. “We always answer the customers’ questions.”

“We can also help people with the design and look of the kitchen,” adds sales and advertising associate Kevin Johnson. “Customers will give us their ideas and even show us blueprints, and we can give them advice, based on their needs, tastes, and budget.”

The latest in ranges, cook-tops, ovens (including steam ovens), microwaves, refrigerators, drawer refrigerators, dishwashers, drawer dishwashers, coffee-making systems, as well as washers and dryers are on display in the handsome and spacious new showroom.

Brands, such as Frigidaire, KitchenAid, General Electric, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Miele, and Sub Zero, among others, are all available.

User-Friendly

“KitchenAid, G.E., and Electrolux are becoming more and more popular,” points out Mr. Horowitz. “They offer the best features at affordable prices.”

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and whatever its size, people like to gather there. Amazing technological innovations in appliances are now in place, and Mr. Horowitz notes, “People are going back to cooking. There are ‘foodies’ out there today. And appliances are more user-friendly. With warming drawers and microwave convection ovens, you get better results in less time. Warming drawers are very popular now. Pizzas, pancakes, and eggs will taste as if they had just been cooked. Everyone is so busy these days, and families don’t always sit down to eat together. This is an efficient way to have food available at different times.”

Sometimes people need time to learn about all the possibilities and versatility available from the new appliances, but points out Kevin Johnson: “Even with the new features and new styles, a stove is still a stove. It’s just better and can do more things.”

As to color and style, stainless steel remains a favorite for the entire kitchen, as does integrated wood paneling, which becomes a seamless part of the cabinets and kitchen decor.

Energy-Efficient

“Color has really gone to the laundry room,” reports Mr. Horowitz. “Red, blue, and gray are all popular, and both front and top loader washing machines continue to be in demand. The technology in washing machines is swinging back toward super-efficient top loaders.”

Energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly products are important to many customers today, points out Mr. Johnson. “In the past several years, there has been a big response to energy-efficient appliances, including washers, dishwashers, and refrigerators.”

Mr. Horowitz is proud of the company’s reputation and longevity. Customers come from all over the Princeton area, and many are regulars, including second and third generations from the same family.

“I enjoy my second and third generation customers,” he notes, “and all the new customers who represent the beginning of a long relationship. I look forward to coming to work every day!”

Service is always uppermost, adds Mr. Johnson. “For example, delivery of new appliances and removal of the old ones are included in our price. And we can also help customers arrange for installation, if they need it.”

H & H Appliance Center is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 8 to 5. (609) 426-1111. Website: www.hhappliance.com.
