Mercer County’s FEMA Disaster Recovery Center for individuals who need help registering for available assistance due to Hurricane Irene (not Tropical Storm Lee) is located on the campus of Mercer County Community College, West Windsor, in a portion of the Fine Arts building. The Center is currently open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 7 days a week.

John Witherspoon (JWMS) Middle School’s Annual Super Saturday Carnival will take place on September 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Proceeds from this fundraiser will support the school’s sixth grade Environmental Education Trip, and other enrichment programs throughout the school year. Traditional crafters are needed to exhibit and sell their wares at Mercer County’s first Cultural Festival on October 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (rain date, October 16) at Mercer County Park in West Windsor. Crafts must be ethnic, traditional work of the represented country, Crafters interested in participating are encouraged to complete and submit an Application/Agreement, which is available for download at nj.gov/counties/mercer/commissions/cultural, no later than September 30.

Author Scott Peterson will discuss “Iran and the Arab Spring” at the next meeting of The Princeton Middle East Society on Wednesday, September 28, at 4:30 p.m. in Robertson Hall, Bowl 2, at the Woodrow Wilson School on the university campus.
