Sparked by Trombino's Sharp Shooting, PU Men's Lacrosse Tops Syracuse 12-8

The coaching staff on the Princeton University men's lacrosse team has challenged senior attacker Peter Trombino to shoot early and often this season.

While Trombino had a team-high 14 goals coming into Princeton's clash last Saturday with visiting Syracuse, there was a sense that the Huntington Station, N.Y. native hadn't really gotten into a groove yet.

After all, with Trombino as the top triggerman, the Tiger offense had been held to six goals or less on four occasions this spring even as fifth-ranked Princeton got off to a 5-2 start.

Former Stuart Ice Hockey Star Grabowski Has Magic Ride in Final Season at Amherst

It would have been easy for Lindsay Grabowski to get discouraged and just go through the motions in her senior season with the Amherst College women's ice hockey team.

The former Stuart Country Day standout and Princeton native had started every game for Amherst as a freshman in 2003-04. After serving as a back-up in her sophomore and junior seasons, Grabowski was looking forward to seeing a lot of action in her last college campaign.

But early in the season, it became clear that freshman goalie Krystyn Elek was going to be the starter with Grabowski again relegated to a reserve role.

Chris Trombino got off to a slow start in his debut last Thursday with the Hun School boys' lacrosse team.

The post-graduate attacker, a native of Huntington Station, N.Y., was repeatedly thwarted as Hun trailed East Chapel Hill (N.C.) 5-1 late in the fourth quarter on a blustery day that saw a snow shower affect play at one point.

Then with four minutes left in regulation, Trombino found the back of the net to trigger a Hun rally which saw it score three more goals to knot the game at 5-5 with 1:12 remaining.

Langdon in Middle of the Action as PDS Girls' Lacrosse Starts 2-0

Keely Langdon and her teammates on the Princeton Day School girls' lacrosse team got to work out some opening day kinks when they hosted Purnell School last Wednesday.

With inexperienced Purnell not in PDS' class, the Panthers stayed warm on the drizzly, chilly day by running through their playbook, focusing on passing and catching as they cruised to a 10-0 win.

Sophomore Star Passano Has Field Day as Stuart Lax Beats Pennington 15-7

It was a day that the Stuart Country Day lacrosse program had been looking forward to for a while and everything was going well in the beginning.

Christening its gleaming new turf field last week for its season opener against Pennington, the sun was shining brightly and the players were inspired by a pre-game ceremony which included a prayer blessing the Long Family Field.
