Morven in May: A Garden Party for the Friends of Morven will be celebrated on Friday, May 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., with proceeds to benefit Morven. The party will feature festive drinks, fresh herbal hors d’oeuvres, music by harpist Mary Bryson, and a silent auction of horticultural rarities. More than 100 types of hard to find heirloom and connoisseur plants will be at the adjoining plant sale. Tickets are $30 per person and reservations are required. The Phriends of Phyllis Marchand invite the community to the Phyllis Phete on Wednesday, May 13, to celebrate the accomplishments of former Princeton Township Mayor Marchand, who retired at the end of 2008, for her 22 years of community leadership on Princeton Township Committee. The Phete will consist of a free late afternoon outdoor celebration and dedication of the Municipal Plaza in honor of Mayor Marchand from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and a 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. champagne toast at the Nassau Inn, at $35 per person. The evening event will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, light roasting of Phyllis, and the announcement of the Phyllis Marchand Leadership Speakers Series. Mercer County can provide homeowners who are facing residential mortgage foreclosure with materials in both English and Spanish explaining the new state-supported mediation program, which gives eligible homeowners access to housing counselors, attorneys, and court-trained mediators who may help homeowners in foreclosure remain in their homes.
