Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

How would you describe the health of the local economy?”
(Asked during Sunday’s sidewalk sale on Palmer Square)

“I think the local economy is good. A bit slow this month, because many people are on vacation. Palmer Square attracts a lot of tourists to the area, which is good for business. And the University will be back soon, so business will pick up even more.”

Julia Kusahyk of Rosana, Pennington

“I don’t find the local economy doing that poorly. We have the University and students are always coming around.”

Gabriella Shypula of Rosana, Princeton

“Business is really good. Princeton’s local economy is much healthier than last year”

Gwen Toma of Kate Spade, Cranbury

“It’s strong here, Princetonians especially, are devoted to the local businesses and shop here. We are pushing with sales but, not nearly as much as last year.”

“I think it’s actually doing pretty well. The rest of the state is in much poorer shape. Princeton benefits from the University and big companies in the area. Socioeconomic standards are higher, so they have more resources to ride out the bad economy.”

Yunyi Lin of the Bent Spoon, Princeton
