There will be a partial road closure on Paul Robeson Place this Thursday, December 17, for milling and paving of the eastbound lane between Bayard Lane and Chambers Street. Work is to start at 8:30 a.m. and should be completed by 4 p.m. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to 206 North to Birch Ave, to Witherspoon Street. Westbound Paul Robeson will remain open to traffic.

The McCarter Theatre encourages patrons of the arts to visit the ArtPride New Jersey website (http://capwiz.com/artsusa/nj/issues/alert/?alertid=14443326&type=ML&show_alert=1) to learn how to protest the freezing of contractually committed funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts to hundreds of the State’s arts organizations. These planned cuts “will have a catastrophic effect on New Jersey’s arts community,” said the McCarter announcement.

The Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) will host a post-concert reception with Judy Collins after her concert at McCarter Theatre on Friday, February 19, 2010. CFPA has a block of seats reserved for the concert, which is now sold out. The total cost for concert tickets and admission to the reception, which will also take place at McCarter, is $100 ($50 tax deductible) per person, or $125 ($65 tax deductible) per person with an autographed CD. Tickets can be purchased using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express through a secure link on CFPA’s web site, www.peacecoalition.org, or by calling the office at (609) 924-5022 weekdays.

Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness Executive Director Herb Levine will give a talk entitled “Homelessness — Adrift in an Uncaring World” at the next meeting of the Princeton Community Democratic Organization (PCDO) on Sunday, December 20, at 7:30 p.m., in the Suzanne Patterson Center. There will be a half-hour open house preceding the program for those considering running for a position on the PCDO Executive Board. Current officers and members of the board will be there to answer questions.The PCDO leadership election will be on January 24, 2010.
