Plans for Princeton University’s proposed Arts and Transit Neighborhood will be on display during an open house next Tuesday, February 19, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at the U-Store building on University Place. There will be displays and a model available for review by attendees throughout the open house. Planning team members will be in attendance to answer questions and take input. There will also be a presentation at 8 p.m. by PU vice president and secretary Robert Durkee that will feature comments by Lewis Center for the Arts Chairman Paul Muldoon and Steven Holl, the phase one architect recently hired by the University for the arts neighborhood.
The Princeton Township Democratic Committee will host its second annual “Ready, Get Set, Run” workshop on becoming involved in local politics next Thursday, February 21, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The location has yet to be announced, but PTDC chair Dan Preston said Tuesday that further details would be available shortly. Mr. Preston said the PTDC is looking for any Princeton Township Democrat who is interested in getting more involved in the political process at a grassroots level and may one day consider running for elected office. Current and former Princeton Township elected officials, party leaders, and campaign experts will present their perspectives and answer questions at the event. Topics for discussion include early steps toward becoming more involved, as well as the specific timetables for candidates considering running this year. The Republican Association of Princeton Tuesday will host its second annual Lincoln Day Dinner on February 28 at the Nassau Club in downtown Princeton. The scheduled guest speaker will be state Sen. Tom Kean Jr. Mr. Kean is also the State Senate’s Republican minority leader. The reception will begin at 6:45 p.m. and dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per person and $175 per couple. For members of the Mercer County Republican Capital Club, the cost is $75 per person and $135 per couple. Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes will present a preliminary overview of the FY2008-2009 budget during a double meeting of the Board of Chosen Freeholders tonight, February 13, at 6 p.m., in Room 211 of the County Administration Building. The County Executive’s annual informal address will update the freeholders on the County’s financial standing and provide them a preview to the introduction of the formal budget in the near future. The meeting is open to the public.
