LOW RIDER: Princeton University freshman forward Kevin Lohry races up the ice last Saturday in Princetons 2-1 win over Cornell. A night earlier, Lohry chipped in a goal and two assists as Princeton routed Colgate 7-2. The weekend sweep clinched home ice for the Tigers for the March 14-16 ECACH quarterfinal weekend. Tickets for the playoff series are currently on sale at the Princeton ticket office in Jadwin Gym. |
Kevin Lohrys debut season with the Princeton University mens hockey team didnt get off to a flying start.
Plagued by a groin injury, the 511, 195-pound freshman forward played in only two of Princetons first nine games this season.
Scott MacKenzie tended to tighten up on the field last year in his debut season for the Princeton University mens lacrosse team.
I let the game get to me and I started freaking out instead of having a good time on the field and realizing what I have to do, said the 65, 210-pound MacKenzie, who scored just two assists in 12 appearances in 2007 as a freshman.
In the first few years of this decade, the Princeton University womens lacrosse team developed a special chemistry that it parlayed into national titles in 2002 and 2003.
After having not been in the NCAA Final Four since the 2004 season, the Tigers are looking to rekindle that special sense of unity as they look ahead to the upcoming season.
This past December, Paige Johnson didnt sense that the Princeton High girls swimming team was headed for big things.
I think we started the season with a negative feeling; the question was how would we perform because we lost so many people from last years team, said Johnson, a PHS senior co-captain.
Bill Holup thought that last Wednesdays state Prep A title contest might be the game where his Hun School girls basketball team could finally topple powerful Peddie.
Three days earlier, the teams met in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) final and were deadlocked 17-17 at the half. After intermission, Peddie caught fire from the outside, hitting six three-pointers in the second half as it pulled away to a 55-43 win.
