Carmela Agnese, 82, of Princeton, died December 29, peacefully at home.
Daughter of the late Lucia and Francesco Di Meglio, she was born in Fiaiano, Ischia, Italy. She came to the United States with her family in 1963, settling in Princeton.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Church and the Altar Rosary Society.
The matriarch of her extended family, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Sister of the late Peppino DiMeglio, she is survived by her husband of 59 years, Roberto Agnese; two daughters, Luci Benn of Pennington and Anna Colon of Hamilton; five brothers, Luigi, Angelo, Chris, Salvatore, and Filippo; two sisters, Sesina Cervero and Antonietta Delneso; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered as someone who brought love, happiness, and a radiant smile everywhere she went.
The funeral was January 2 at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Paul’s Church. Burial was in Princeton Cemetery.

Geraldine (Wise) Trozinski of Princeton, formerly of Cresskill, died December 28.
Born and raised in Yonkers, N.Y., she attended Fairleigh Dickinson College. She had been a bookkeeper for several small businesses in Bergen County, and was active in many community organizations.
Predeceased by her husband, Theodore J. Trozinski, she is survived by her two sons, Steven Trozinski of Randolph and Peter Scott of Readington; a sister, Joan Cox of Montclair; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
Edward Matthew (“Ed”) Kaftanic, 85, of Princeton, died January 3 at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Baska, Croatia, he came to the United States with his family as a young child, settling in East Chicago, Ind. He moved to Metuchen in 1950 and lived there before moving to Princeton in 1972.
He earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) in 1960, attending night school while working for M.W. Kellogg Company in New York City. He left Kellogg in 1970 to take a position with the Mobil Oil Corporation. He retired from Mobil in 1989.
Upon retirement, Mr. Kaftanic volunteered for the Red Cross and the University Medical Center at Princeton. He was also a member the David Sarnoff Radio Club, a group of amateur radio operators.
He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet J. Kaftanic, a son, Richard William Kaftanic, and a brother, Louis Kaftanich. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Meuse, and son, Barry E. Kaftanic, both of Princeton; a brother, Francis Kaftanic of Mansfield, Ohio; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 214 Nassau Street, on Thursday, January 7 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation today, January 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kimble Funeral Home, One Hamilton Avenue.

Judi Gilhooly, 53, of Cranbury, died December 29 at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born and raised in Chicago, Ill., she resided in New Jersey for 22 years. She was a branch administrator with Long & Foster Realtors of Princeton Junction.
She was actively involved in the Humane Society.
She is survived by her parents, Stanley and Marie (Acosta) Staniszewski; a brother, Ken Staniszewski of Bridgeview, Ill.; a sister, Cindy Wolfe of Chicago; and two close friends, Ann and Cheryl.
The funeral service will be private.
