The Historical Society of Princeton is currently working on a research project on the artist Rex Goreleigh (1902-1986). Goreleigh lived in Princeton for nearly forty years, initially working as director of Princeton Group Arts (an attempt to bridge racial barriers through the arts), and then operating his Studio-on-the-Canal. During his lifetime, he was featured in numerous one-man and group exhibitions locally and nationally. Goreleigh was particularly noted for his paintings of migrant farm workers in central New Jersey. The Historical Society asks that anyone with paintings, drawings, or prints by Goreleigh or other material about him, contact the Historical Society by phone: (609) 921-6748 or email: eileen@princetonhistory.org.
