A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week: "What are your views about domestic partners receiving health benefits from the State?"

"I think that there should be health benefits in general. I believe that there should be universal health care."

– Angela Townsend, Seminary Student

"I believe that if we can be more inclusive in general as a society it's a good idea. And if people are committed to a relationship, no matter what sort of relationship, it is a good idea to be more inclusive. And if that includes health benefits, I don't see that the state should not support it. There are too many people without health benefits, anyway."

– Billy Heller, Pine Street

"Yes I do, but only after they define exactly what is a domestic partnership, so that the status cannot be abused."

– Susan Lidstone, Cherry Hill Road

"I support it. I do not see why domestic partners – when it has been established that they have the same kind of committed relationship as a married couple – should not get the same kind of benefits as a married couple."

– Hilary Herbold, Moore Street

"I think it's a good idea. There is no reason not to do it."

– Stephen Griffies, Maple Street
