Most Mercer County offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes has announced that the County is seeking residents to serve in volunteer capacities on various Boards and Commissions. The Countys 15 Boards and Commissions are comprised of residents who work in the public and private sectors as well as non-profits, and who use their experience in their own career fields to help direct and advise the County in serving the specific needs of the population. Perhaps our greatest asset is the diversity of people who live and work in Mercer County, said Mr. Hughes. We need to tap this resource and give back to our community. By serving on one of our Boards and Commissions, you can help make a difference. Those interested in serving must be approved by both the Administration and the Board of Chosen Freeholders and are typically appointed to three-year terms. Most boards and commissions meet monthly. Mercer County Boards and Commissions include Cultural and Heritage Commission; Council on Aging; Disabilities Advisory Council; Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Advisory Committee; Commission on Abused, Neglected and Missing Children; Library Commission; Mental Health Board; Commission on the Status of Women; Park Commission; Planning Board; Agricultural Development Board; Board of Social Services; Mercer County Fire Academy Commission; Workforce Investment Board; and Open Space Preservation Board. Anyone interested in being considered for a seat on a board or commission should email a résumé with the subject line Boards and Commissions to scabanas@mercercounty.org or fax a resume to the Mercer County Office of the Chief of Staff at (609) 695-5124.
