Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart recently announced that Princeton resident Caitlin Kelmar received a gold medal award in the 2009 National Latin Exam program, attaining summa cum laude recognition for her score in the Latin I exam. The exam covers areas such as grammar, comprehension, mythology, life, history, derivatives, and questions based on a short passage in Latin. The eighth-graders perfect score landed her in the top percentile of more than 149,000 students in the United States and 13 foreign countries who took this years examination. Caitlin is one of three Stuart students who earned summa cum laude recognition on the 2009 test; two other students earned silver awards. I am extremely proud of Caitlins accomplishments as well as all the other Stuart students whose scores are well above the national average, said Upper and Middle School Latin teacher Faige Lonstein.
