Mercer Countys Office of Emergency Management will host an open meeting to obtain public input on the Countys Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan (PDM) on July 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dempster Fire Training Center, 350 Lawrence Station Road. The plan studies the natural and manmade hazards that present the biggest risks to Mercer County, and establishes goals that seek to prevent or lessen the impact of these potential disasters. The main threat to Mercer is flooding, but the plan also targets other hazards. The PDM plan is an effort to prevent and minimize future loss of life, injury, property damage, and economic disruption as a result of natural or man-made disasters. The creation of the PDM plan also makes Mercer County eligible for federal funds to be used to address vulnerable assets or locations.
