A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week: "Now that Deep Throat has revealed his identity, what are your views of W. Mark Felt's disclosure and his role in history?"

"I think he had a major role in history and I'm glad he revealed himself because I was interested to know who he was."

Jenny Goodman, Cedar Lane

"He certainly played an important role in bringing down the Nixon Administration and I think he did the right thing. This is a sign of the system working."

Ned Wingreen, Patton Avenue

"I think that it's great that it cleared up what we have all been wondering about for a long time. I don't know that it is going to change much in terms of future behavior but it is nice to know that a former FBI official in the Nixon Administration sought fit to do what he thought was right for the American people rather than be true to some kind of honor code. Something was wrong and he said this was wrong. I hope more people will notice that behavior and copy it."

Theodore Casparian, Princeton-Kingston Road

"I am ambivalent about it. I think those rogues should have been uncovered the way they were but I don't like the way it was done. Felt should have come out publicly and regardless of what that meant to his career, gotten him that way. He would have been vindicated in a court of law anyway."

Guy Balmer, Harriet Drive

"I think that it was patriotic and I think that it was a difficult decision for him given his job and the responsibilities that he had."

Phil Colicchio, Benedek Road
