Road Construction Update: A portion of Mountain Avenue will be closed for roughly two months on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. starting next Monday, June 25. According to Princeton Township engineer Robert Kiser, the closure is necessary in order to conduct drainage improvements as well as road construction on the stretch between Quarry Lane and the Great Road. The road will also be closed some Saturdays, Mr. Kiser said. The Township is urging drivers to use alternate routes. (MH)
The Princeton Township Zoning Board of Adjustment continued last Wednesday to deliberate on a proposal to build "Elements," a 78-seat restaurant at the corner of Leigh Avenue and Bayard Lane, at the site of the former Stefanelli's Automotive. Because of common principals, the restaurant proposal is tied to a plan to build a Bank of Princeton branch at the former Mike's Tavern location a block to the north, at the corner of Bayard Lane and Birch Avenue. Ten spaces of the restaurant's required 26 parking spaces will be located at the bank parking during evening hours, when the bank is closed, with the remaining 16 spaces built on the restaurant site. The zoning board did not offer a final decision on the application, and is scheduled to hold another hearing for both proposals at Township Hall on June 27 at 7:30 p.m. A public comment period is scheduled for that meeting.
