Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“Who is your favorite artist and why?
(Asked at the opening of the Artist-Teacher exhibit at Princeton High School’s Numina Gallery.)

Andrea: “Ed Ruscha. He is smart, funny, and great to look at.”

Maria: “Charles LaDray. I just saw his show at the Whitney, it was very original. I loved it, he is my favorite right now.”

“Eugene Richards, a photojournalist; he is incredible because he references the forgotten people; drug addicts or people with illness; he photographs with kindness and sensitivity.”

— Eileen Homuth-Lemonick, Princeton

“Ani DiFranco, who is a musician and a poet. I like her because of her honesty and each one of her pieces is unique.”

— Ricardo Barros, Princeton

Eliza: “Monet. I like his water lilies. I like it that as his sight declined, his work became more abstract.”

Martha: “Sol LeWitt. I saw his work recently and it blew me away. He made art by leaving directions on how to do the art and others became part of the process.”

— Martha Otis with granddaughter, Eliza Wright, Princeton

“Richard Serra. His sculpture is cool. He is just amazing at what he does.”

— Peter Neilson, Princeton

Kate: “My sister-in-law, Mollie Murphy. Her projects are very mysterious with hidden meaning.”

Mike: “Paul Klee. He explores a lot. I like the composition and color of his paintings.”

— Kate and Mike Crackel, Princeton
