| A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues Question of the Week: "What are your feelings about Martha Stewart's conviction?"
"I think that it is too bad that people have to lie to cover up things they could have easily taken care of in the right way. I think that she's being made an example of and probably deserves it." Joseph Abeles, Sarnoff Corporation- Route 1 "I think that first of all, people who do these kind of things should be convicted and so I'm happy with it. If they committed perjury they should be nailed on that too but I guess that when you are defending yourself in court everybody lies. I never had to do that but it's quite common. I'm very much in favor of jail time for people who commit fraud and other white collar crimes." Bill Sanderson, Princeton University "I think that it's a very double-edged sword. In some ways she has been left hanging by a group she fought very hard to become part of, like a sacrificial lamb. Yet, in the same breath, the conviction is one that you need in order to set the stage so that bigger fish in similar situations can be gone after." Josh Littlefield, Spring Street "It just saddens me. I feel sorry for a soul who can rise so high and fall so far and I just feel sad for her." Kim Haller, North Harrison Street "I think that she got convicted because she lied to the prosecutor and that was wrong. They also were doing something that was a little bit of a witch hunt and it's too bad." Lynette Hull, Linden Lane
