The Spirit of Princeton invites the community to the annual Nassau Street Memorial Day Parade, on Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. An old-fashioned trolley car will transport veterans from Borough Hall at 9:15 a.m. to the parade starting point. A dedication ceremony at Borough Hall will follow at 11 a.m. All current active duty or veteran service men and women are encouraged to walk in the parade, which will take place rain or shine. The parade this year is dedicated to the memory of Korean War Veteran and Spirit of Princeton charter member, Frank Tylus. The New Jersey Conservation Foundation and the Mercer County Park Commission are sponsoring a free Roebling Park Ramble on Saturday, May 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. Biologist and storyteller Emile DeVito will lead the walk through John A. Roebling Park in Trenton. The park is part of the Hamilton-Trenton-Bordentown Marsh, and hosts a rich variety of plants and animals that live in and migrate through the state capital. Participants are asked to wear comfortable walking shoes and socks, and bring water. The Mercer County Library System recently launched a blog to provide its patrons with a collaborative outlet of current information about upcoming programs, library resources and services, and events at its nine branches. The blog can be accessed through the home page of the library’s website, www.mcl.org, or directly at http://mercercountylibrary.blogspot.com.

Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello reminds residents that Tuesday, May 26 is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot through the mail to vote in the upcoming Gubernatorial Primary election. A registered voter may apply for an absentee ballot by completing an application and mailing it to the Mercer County Clerk’s Office up to seven days prior to the election. Voters may also apply in person at the Mercer County Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Old Courthouse at 209 South Broad Street in Trenton, until 3 p.m. on Monday, June 1, the day before the election. To request an application by phone, call (609) 989-6494. Online applications in both English and Spanish are available at www.mercercounty.org/countyclerk.
