Sustainable Princeton will launch its BYOBag campaign at the Princeton Public Library on Thursday, June 9 at 6 p.m. Using the motto change a habit and change the world, the event is intended to kick off a year-long campaign to encourage residents to bring their own cloth or recycled bags when purchasing food, clothes, greeting cards, or any other items that are typically put in plastic or paper bags that get thrown away after use. The celebration will begin on Hinds Plaza with music, Stone Soup circus performers, and a My Favorite Reusable Bag contest. Attendees will also view the documentary, Bag It, at 7:30 p.m. in the librarys Community Room. For more information visit www.sustainableprinceton.org.
The Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad (PFARS) and the Health Care Ministry of Princeton (HCM) are working together to help prevent falls in the homes of the elderly. Falls are the number one cause of accidental injury and death for the elderly. When responding to calls for help from the elderly who have fallen, PFARS lets them know how they can be in touch with the Health Care Ministry of Princeton, which has developed a comprehensive home safety survey it will offer to the elderly to prevent falls. A message from Connie Mercer at HomeFront: many children depend on subsidized school breakfasts and lunches. That way, children get two nutritious meals five days a week when school is in session. But when school lets out, families whose groceries are already stretched thin, often cant afford the extra food. To help go to: www.homefrontnj.org/Donate-StopSummerHunger-2011.cfm.
